Does the college campus security guard have the right to search the dorms without a warrant?

Are they violating the 4th amendment? The college and dorms are state-run. However, the security guards are contracted from a company based in another state.

  1. John Scott Says:

    Yes,they can do it.

some private institutions have a state authorized police department. In those cases, the police officers on campus will be bound by the Constitution notwithstanding the fact that they are employed by a private entity since they derive their authority from state law.

look over my source i gave you.
